Hawk-kin Laguz (Advanced Race, 12 RP)

Hawk-kin are a laguz race of humanoids able to assume the form of a giant hawk (“laguz” means “changer” in their world’s language). When in normal form they appear as winged humans.

Type: Humanoid (shapechanger) (0 RP)

Size: Medium (0 RP)

Speed: Normal (0 RP) 30 ft.

Ability Score Modifiers: Standard (0 RP) +2 Str, +2 Wis, -2 Cha.

Languages: Linguist (1 RP) Hawk-kin laguz begin game speaking Common. They can learn any languages they want as bonus languages if they have a high Intelligence score (except Druidic and other secret languages)

Magical Racial Traits

Hawk Shape (Advanced Trait, 7 RP): As a supernatural ability, hawk-kin laguz can change shape to and from a Medium-sized hawk form as a standard action. In this shape, a hawk-kin laguz gains a +2 racial bonus to Dex, plus one of the following features (her choice):

• Two claw attacks dealing 1d4 points of damage each.
• Flight (60 ft., average maneuverability)
• +2 racial bonus to natural armor.

These benefits last until the laguz returns to her humanoid form as a swift action. A laguz must first return to her humanoid form before changing to hawk form again to change benefits.

Movement Racial Traits

Gliding Wings (3 RP): A hawk-kin laguz takes no damage from falling (as if subject to a constant non-magical feather fallspell). While in midair, she can move up to 5 feet in any horizontal direction for every 1 foot they fall, at a speed of 60 feet per round. The laguz cannot gain height with these wings alone; it merely coasts in other directions as it falls. If subjected to a strong wind or any other effect that causes her to rise, the laguz can take advantage of the updraft to increase the distance she can glide.
