New Feat: Extra Improved Wild Shape

Last material to use with the Master of Many Forms for now. I could return to this PrC every now and then if you like it.

Extra Improved Wild Shape

You unlocked a new shapechanging ability.

Prerequisite: Improved wild shape class feature.

Benefit: Select an additional spell from the improved wild shape list. Your improved wild shape ability can now have that effect as well. You can only select an effect you would have normally access to based on your master of many forms level.

Patron Request: Karnos from Oathbound: Mysteries of Arena

As requested by Ronald J Paris!
This post already appeared for patrons only on my Patreon page. If you wish to see stuff in advance and have access to other rewards, please consider donating!

Karnos (Advanced Race, 20 RP)

Karnos live for honor and war and very little else! These descendants of dragons are larger and fiercer than their kobold cousins, gifted with three eyes, a large fanged mouth, backwards curving horns and thick scaled bony plated hides that make them fearsome. Being declared a battle mate to a karnos is one of their greatest honors they can grant to a stranger and is usually only achievable  by saving their life first.

Type (0 RP): Karnos are humanoids with the reptilian subtype.

Size (7 RP) Karnos are Large creatures and gain a +2 size bonus to Strength and a –2 size penalty to Dexterity. Large races take a –1 size penalty to their AC, a –1 size penalty on attack rolls, a +1 bonus on combat maneuver checks and to their CMD, and a –4 size penalty on Stealth checks. A Large creature takes up a space that is 10 feet by 10 feet and has a reach of 5 feet. Large creatures require double the food and drink of Medium creatures and can only wear equipment that is custom made for their size.

Base Speed: Fast (1 RP) 40 ft.

Ability Score Modifiers: Greater Paragon (0 RP) +4 Str, -2 Wis, -2 Cha. Karnos give little value to stealth or prudence.

Languages: Standard (0 RP) Karnos begin play speaking Common and Draconic. Karnos with high Intelligence scores can choose from the following: Cyclops, Giant, Gnoll, and Sphinx.

Defense Racial Traits

Draconic Hide (7 RP): Karnos have a +6 natural armor bonus on their Armor Class.

Offense Racial Traits

Bite (2 RP): A karnos’ bite attack deals 2d6 damage.

Claws (2 RP): A karnos’ 2 claw attacks deal 1d6 damage each.

Weapon Totem (1 RP): Each karnos war clan has a distinctive weapon as its symbol. All karnos of a clan are proficient in their totemic weapon. If a karnos crafts such a weapon for himself, he gains a +1 bonus on attack rolls when using that weapon (and that weapon only).

Spell Line: Proxy Aspect

I remade the Angelic Aspect line to allow casters to take the form of other aligned outsiders. It is useful for a Master of Many Forms.

This post already appeared for patrons only on my Patreon page. If you wish to see stuff in advance and have access to other rewards, please consider donating!

Proxy Aspect

School transmutation; Level antipaladin 3, cleric/oracle/warpriest 5, paladin 3, sorcerer/wizard 5

This spell functions like lesser proxy aspect, except as follows. If the form you assume has any of the following abilities, you gain the listed ability: low-light vision; darkvision 60’; resistance 10 or +4 bonus on saving throws against up to any two effects the chosen creature is immune or resistant to; DR 5/adamantine, chaotic, cold iron, evil, good, lawful, magic, piercing, or silver; flight (30 ft., average maneuverability). In addition, your natural weapons and any weapons you wield are considered chaotic, evil, good, or lawful (if the shape you assume has the corresponding subtypes) or magic (if you assume the shape of a true neutral creature) for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction. Some proxy subtypes also grant unique abilities:

Agathion: a natural attack (bite or claws) inflicting 1d6 damage.

Asura: elusive aura (15 ft. plus your caster level).

Azata: bardic knowledge ability as a bard of a level equal to ½ your hit dice and all Knowledge skills as class skills.

Demodand: spell resistance equal to 6 + your caster level.

Manasaputra: positive energy affinity.

Protean: amorphous anatomy, granting a 25% chance to ignore additional damage caused by critical hits and sneak attacks.

Rakshasa: alter self at will.

Sahkil: your natural weapons, as well as any weapon you wield, are treated as though they had the ghost touch weapon special ability.

Proxy Aspect, Greater

School transmutation; Level antipaladin 4, cleric/oracle 8, paladin 4, sorcerer/wizard 8

This spell functions like lesser proxy aspect, except as follows. If the form you assume has any of the following abilities, you gain the listed ability: low-light vision; darkvision 60’; see in darkness; blindsense; DR 5/adamantine, chaotic, cold iron, evil, good, lawful, magic, piercing, or silver; all immunities, resistances, and racial bonuses of the chosen form; emotional focus; fast healing; master of deception; positive energy affinity; regeneration; soul armor; and flight 60 ft. (good maneuverability).

You also gain the following supernatural abilities for the duration of the spell if the form you assume possesses them: adaptive resistance, amorphous anatomy, aura of menace, change shape, detect thoughts, elusive aura, envisaging, faith-stealing strike, formless, freedom of movement, horrific appearance, lay on hands (as a paladin of your caster level, no mercies gained; if you already have the lay on hands ability, your caster level and class level stack), look of fear, protective aura, spiritsense, telepathy, teleport (at will), truespeech, unnerving gaze, and void form.

If you take the form of an azata, you also gain bardic knowledge and bardic performance as a bard of your caster level for the duration of the spell.

If you take the form of an asura, daemon, demodand, demon, devil, or div, once within the spell’s duration you can try to summon some monsters with the same subtype as with summon monster VI (3 adhukait, 3 erinyes, 3 pairaka, 3 succubi, 3 suspiridaemons, or 1-2 tarry demodands) as a spell-like ability. The chance of a successful summoning is 35%. The summoned creatures only stay for 1 minute, and disappear anyway when the spell expires.

If you take the form of a protean, you also gain constrict and grab as special attacks.
If you take the form of a psychopomp or sahkil, your natural weapons and any weapons you wield are considered to have the ghost touch quality.

Spell Line: Object Shape

To use with the revised Master of Many Forms!

This post already appeared for patrons only on my Patreon page. If you wish to see stuff in advance and have access to other rewards, please consider donating!

Object Shape I

School transmutation (polymorph); Level alchemist 2, sorcerer/wizard 2

Casting

Casting Time 1 round

Components V, S, M (a small sample of the chosen substance)

Effect

Range personal

Target you

Duration 1 hour/level (D)

Description

When you cast this spell, you can assume the form of any Small or Medium object made of a material with 0–2 hardness. You gain that hardness while in object form but retain your own hit points. Prestige Class Converted: Master of Many Forms

This class required -at the same time- very few adaptations and a profound rewriting. This is not my first attempt, but I hope it's well done this time! In the next posts I will provide new spells and a new feat to use with the PrC.

This post already appeared for patrons only on my Patreon page. If you wish to see stuff in advance and have access to other rewards, please consider donating!

Master of Many Forms

A master of many forms has no shape that she calls her own. Instead, she occupies whatever body is most expedient for her at the time. While others base their identities largely on their external forms, a master of many forms actually comes closer to her true self through her transformations. Of necessity, her sense of self is based not on her outward form, but on her soul, which is truly the only constant about her. It is the inner strength of that soul that enables her to take on any shape and remain herself within.

Mostly druids and shifters choose the master of many forms path, but a few characters from other classes are able to select it too. Such a character can be a great force for either good or ill in the world. The same opponents may face her again and again, in one shape after another, never realizing that they are actually facing a single enemy.

Requirements

To qualify to become a master of many forms, a character must fulfill all the following criteria.

Feats: Alertness, Endurance

Special: Wild shape or equivalent class feature at druid level 7th.

Class Skills: Bluff, Climb, Craft, Diplomacy, Disguise, Handle Animal, Knowledge (Nature), Perception, Profession, Run, Stealth, Survival, Swim.

Skill Points at each Level: 4 + Int modifier.

Evershifting form

The following are the class features of the master of many forms prestige class.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: The master of many forms gains no proficiency with any weapon or armor.

Improved Wild Shape (Sp): A master of many forms adds her class level to her effective druid level for determining the powers and uses per day of her wild shape ability. In addition, as she increases in experience, her wild shape can work in new ways. Every time she gains a level in this prestige class, the master of many forms can select one new spell effect from the following list to add to her wild shape ability. The master of many forms can select any effect available to her level in this prestige class or less. The GM can allow other spells to be added to the list.

1st Level– aberrant form I*, beast shape III (magical beasts), fey form I, lesser proxy aspect, monstrous physique I, object shape I, vermin shape I, undead anatomy I.

3rd Level– beast shape IV, construct body**, monstrous physique II, object shape II, ooze form I, vermin shape II, undead anatomy II.

5th Level– aberrant form II*, fey form II, form of the dragon I, geniekind, monstrous physique III, ooze form II, proxy aspect, undead anatomy III.

7th Level– aberrant form III*, fey  form III, form of the dragon II, giant form I, magical beast shape, monstrous physique IV, object shape III, ooze form III.

8th Level– form of the dragon III, giant form II, greater proxy aspect, iron body, statue, undead anatomy IV.

9th Level– fey form IV, object shape IV.

10th Level– polymorph any object, shapechange.

* Legendary Games, Cultic Cryptomancia

** Kobold Press, Deep Magic

With the GM’s permission, these spells can also provide the effect of the corresponding form of the alien dragon or form of the exotic dragon spells.

Wild Feats: At 1st and 4th level, a master of many forms gains a bonus feat. This feat must require the wild shape ability, and the character must meet its other prerequisites.

A Thousand Faces (Ex): At 7th level, a master of many forms gains the ability to change her appearance at will, as if using the alter self spell, but only while in her normal form.

Timeless Body (Ex): At 9th level, a master of many forms no longer takes ability score penalties for aging and cannot be magically aged. Any penalties she may have already incurred, however, remain in place. Bonuses still accrue, and the character still dies of old age when her time is up.

Evershifting Form (Su): At 10th level, the master of many forms reached the pinnacle of her shapechanger abilities. She can use improved wild shape once per round, at will, gains the shapechanger subtype and becomes immune to all transmutation effects unless she is willing to accept it.
