New Feat: Elemental Trial

This one is for worshipers of elemental gods and demigods (elemental forces are very important in the Worldcenter setting).

This post already appeared for patrons only on my Patreon page. If you wish to see stuff in advance and have access to other rewards, please consider donating!

Elemental Trial

Your deity tests the purity of those who would benefit or be damaged by your channeled energy with an elemental judgment.

Prerequisites: Channel energy 7d6; Air, Earth, Fire, Water, or Weather domain or blessing.

Benefit: Once per day, you can expend one use of your channel energy ability to affect one creature within your channeling range as if you had cast trial by fire (using the element matching one domain or blessing you have access to), at a caster level equal to your effective cleric level.

Elemental Trial (Mythic)

The elemental judgment dealt by your deity is absolute.

Prerequisite: Elemental Trial.

Benefit: When you channel energy using the Elemental Trial feat, the ability functions now as mythic trial by fire.

New Feat: Frightening Channel

One of the things I liked about 2E was the cleric and paladin’s ability to turn divine casters of their opposite alignment (at the beginning it was only evil clerics that could turn paladins, but then in later manuals the ability was expanded!) There’s no such thing in later editions or in Pathfinder. And it would take so little! So, here!

Frightening Channel

Enemies of your faith flee before you.

Prerequisites: Channel energy class feature, either Command Undead or Turn Undead.

Benefit: As a standard action, you can expend one use of your channel energy ability to affect all members of an enemy faith within 30 feet as if you had cast cause fear (caster level equal to your effective cleric level). This ability only affects divine spellcasters worshiping a deity you designated as enemy of your own deity, and whose alignment is opposed to your own deity’s alignment in at least one way (good versus evil or law versus chaos); preferably, you should choose a deity whose alignment diametrically opposes that of your own deity.

New Feat: Planar Channeling

I love alternate channeling powers. I always sustained that there should be more flexibility in channeling abilities- and more choice. Channeling feats are great at that, and there can never be too many of them. So here’s another one specifically for my current build.

Planar Channeling
You can invoke the power of your deity’s realm when channeling energy.
Prerequisite: Channel energy class feature, must worship and receive spells from a deity.
Benefit: You gain the invoke realm ability of an idealist cleric and can use it whenever you channel energy, in place of the usual effects. If you already possess the invoke realm ability, this feat instead allows you to channel energy as a standard cleric.

Faith Trait: Alternate Channeler

Sooner or later, I will have to continue my series of speculations about the “perfect priest” in Pathfinder. But in the meanwhile, one thing that can be done to get near to it is modify the channel energy ability.
As I already said, in 2E not every priest was able to turn/command or damage undead. It feels strange that every cleric should do it- even if her deity’s portfolio doesn’t include death in any way. Variant channeling (and the related feats Channeling Variance and Extra Variance from Magic Tactics Toolbox) is a great idea, but it only reduces the power upon undead instead of replacing it.
Channeling feats, now, these are really interesting. We have many that completely replace the healing/damaging ability with another (first of all, the same Turn/Command Undead), and many deities have their own unique channeling replacements. Above all, some of them are already granted to oracles, inquisitors, or necromancers as self-standing abilities. The Genius Guide to Domain Channeling and The Genius Guide to Domain Channeling II gave us plenty of Channeling feats too, adding the interesting idea of linking channeling powers to your deity's domains. It's simple enough devising our own feats to fill the gaps or personalize our homebrewed deities.
Now only the final step remains...

Alternate Channeler (Faith Trait)
Your god blessed you with a power different from others. Choose one channeling feat (a feat that modifies the channel energy power) which has other prerequisites than the channel energy ability. You gain this as a bonus feat, but you only can channel energy using your chosen feat, and cannot channel energy normally. This trait only has effect if you have the channel energy ability.
