Shaman Spirit Specialization: Juju

 It’s just me, or it’s not fair that a shaman cannot be a lord of undead? Let’s rectify that.

Spirit Specialization: Juju

Associated Spirit: Bones

Spirit Magic Spells: command undead (2nd), create undead (6th), create greater undead (8th)

Replacement Hex: The following bone spirit hexes replace the bone lock and deathly being hexes that a shaman can select from the bones spirit.

False Death (Su): Any creature under the effect of a spell with charm or dominate in its name that the shaman casts appears dead to any examiners. Although affected creatures do not detect as undead, they look pale and death-like while under the effects of the shaman’s magic, and are treated as undead for the purpose of being affected by other spells or effects. Additionally, an affected creature ordered to lie still gains a +20 circumstance bonus on Disguise skill checks to look like a corpse.

Spirit Vessels (Su): When using the animate dead spell, the shaman can control 6 HD worth of undead creatures per caster level rather than 4 HD. In addition, any zombies or juju zombies the shaman creates using animate dead, create undead, or similar spells possess maximum hit points.

Spirit Ability: The following spirit ability replaces the touch of the grave ability of the bones spirit.

Undead Servitude (Su): The shaman gains Command Undead as a bonus feat and can channel negative energy a number of times per day equal to 3 + her Charisma modifier, but only to use Command Undead. The shaman can take other feats to add to this ability, such as Improved Channeling, but not feats that alter this ability, such as Alignment Channel.

New Feat: Guide’s Advisor

 I felt the need of a feat to give a familiar to an Oracle. This seems to be fit. The feat from a couple of posts ago is a prerequisite.

Guide’s Advisor

The spirits sent you a counselor to guide you on the path of wisdom.

Prerequisite: Bonded spirit oracle class feature, Favored Wandering Spirit.

Benefit: You gain a spirit animal as per the shaman’s class feature, using your character level as your shaman level. Your familiar gains a spirit animal’s special ability fit for your mystery or your favored wandering spirit.

Melnibonéans (Advanced Race, 13 RP)

Born in a distant world where they dominated everything with magic, melnibonéans are one’s of the most ancient races in the universe, made aloof and cruel by a long exercise of too much power, though some of them can develop feelings and detach themselves from their kin’s ways.

Ability Score Modifiers: Specialized (1 RP) +2 Int, +2 Wis, -2 Con

Type: Humanoid (0 RP) Melnibonéans are humanoids with the melnibonéan subtype.

Size: Medium (0 RP)

Base Speed: Normal (0 RP) 30 ft.

Languages: Linguist (1 RP) Melnibonéans start the game knowing Common, High Melnibonéan, and Low Melnibonéan. Melnibonéan with high Intelligence scores can learn any languages they want (except Druidic and other secret languages).

Defense Racial Traits

Stubborn (2 RP): Melnibonéans gain a +2 racial bonus on Will saving throws to resist spells and spell-like abilities of the enchantment (charm) and enchantment (compulsion) subschools. In addition, if a melnibonéan fails such a save, he receives another save 1 round later to prematurely end the effect (assuming the spell or spell-like ability has a duration greater than 1 round). This second save is made at the same DC as the first. If a melnibonéan has a similar ability from another source (such as a rogue’s slippery mind class feature), it can only use one of these abilities per round, but can try the other on the second round if the first reroll ability fails.

Feat and Skills Abilities

Noble Wizard (5 RP): Melnibonéans gain a +2 racial bonus on Intimidate and Spellcraft skill checks. Intimidate and Spellcraft are always class skills for them.

Potion Brewer (1 RP): Melnibonéans gain a +2 racial bonus on Craft (alchemy) skill checks.

Shards of the Past (2 RP): Melnibonéans gain a +2 racial bonus on Knowledge (arcana) and Knowledge (Planes), and those skills are treated as class skills regardless of what class they actually take.

Alternate Racial Traits

Familiar Predisposition (3 RP): A mélnibonean with this racial trait begins the game with a lesser familiar as per the Familiar Bond feat. This racial trait counts as Familiar Bond for all prerequisites and replaces the linguist and shards of the past racial traits.

New Feat: Favored Wandering Spirit

Favored Wandering Spirit

One of the spirits you can bond with resonates more strongly with you.

Prerequisite: Wandering spirit or bonded spirit class feature.

Benefit: Select one wandering spirit or bonded spirit. You can use powers granted by this spirit as if your shaman level were 1 higher.

New Feat: Spirit Call

 Sorcerers can learn to bloodrage through a feat, and clerics can learn warpriest blessings. Why can’t oracles learn to commune with shaman spirits, unless they are Spirit Guides? It’s not fair.

Spirit Call

Your familiarity with spirits grants you the limited use of a hex.

Prerequisites: Mystery or domain class feature.

Benefit: Choose one shaman hex when you take this feat. This hex must belong to a spirit matching your oracle mystery or related to your domain (like the Life spirit for the Healing domain). You can use this hex twice per day. Your effective shaman level is the highest level that you have in the class that has the mystery or domain class feature.

Additional Rule: Chaokineticists, Phytokineticists and Elemental Whispers

 I like kineticists and I would have loved more rules for them. Instead, some large holes remain. For example, we have no wood or void elementals/wysps. So Improved Elemental Whispers is useless for chaokineticists and phytokineticists. But shouldn’t it be an universal wild talent? Sure it should! So here’s my houserule.

Elemental Whispers- Additional Rule

Chaokineticists and phytokineticists can select Elemental Whispers and Greater Elemental Whispers like other kineticists. While a void familiar takes its energy either from an Outer Plane or the Negative Plane, a wood familiar takes it from the First World. An improved elemental familiar assumes the form of a Tiny outsider with a subtype fitting to the master’s alignment (for a chaokineticist) or a Tiny fey or plant creature (for a phytokineticist). The chosen form must be one allowed for an improved familiar.

Ironforge Dwarves

This dwarven subrace has an ancestral affinity with earth elementals and has lived for thousands of years in the highest mountains of their world.

Ironforge dwarves have the critical expertise, energy resistance (cold), stone in the blood, and treasure finder racial traits. These replace greed, lesser defensive training, hardy, stonecunning, and weapon familiarity.

Critical Expertise (2 RP): Ironforge dwarves gain a +1 bonus on critical confirmation rolls.

Treasure Finder (2 RP): Ironforge dwarves gain Sense Metals and Minerals as a bonus feat at 1st level.

Expanded Metakinesis (Mythic)

Your ability to bend and control your blasts is supernatural.

Prerequisite: Expanded Metakinesis.

Benefit: Select one of the metamagic feats you gained with Expanded Metakinesis. You can alter your kinetic blast using the mythic version of that feat.

Alternatively, you may select another non-mythic metamagic feat not normally allowed to use with metakinesis or feats that expand the metakinesis ability. You become able to alter your kinetic blast using the selected feat, by spending a number of burn points equal to the number of levels that a spell would normally be increased from that feat.

Special: This feat may be selected more than once. Each time, it grants access to a different mythic or non-mythic metamagic feat.

 Metakinesis is great but channeling feats are not metamagic. Still, wood and void kineticists would SO need to use them with their blasts!

Channeling Kinesis

Your kinetic blast can be used as sacred or unholy energy.
Prerequisite(s): Kinetic blast (negative or positive) class feature, metakinesis class feature.
Benefit(s): Select one feat that alters the channel energy ability. Your positive blast counts as channel positive energy and your negative blast as channel negative energy for the purpose of using this feat. Any extended channeling effect selected (like Command Undead) lasts one round only if used this way. Altering a blast with each of these feats costs 1 point of burn.

Special: This feat can be chosen multiple times. Each time, you select a different channeling feat.

Arcane Blood Rage Powers

Arcane Blood, Lesser (Su): While the barbarian is raging, the DC to cast spells defensively increases by 2 for enemies within her threatened area. This increase stacks with that granted by the Disruptive feat.


Arcane Blood (Sp): While raging, the barbarian is constantly under the effect of blur.


Arcane Blood, Greater (Sp): While raging, the barbarian is constantly under the effects of haste in addition to blur.

Mythic Kinetic Invocation

 Can a Kineticist with this feat take the Soul Warden prestige class? He should be able to! The spell-like abilities granted are considered psychic magic except for prerequisites... what does it mean? That they don’t count for prestige classes that require being able to cast psychic spells. BUT they ARE still spell-like abilities, and so count for prestige classes that require being able to cast one specific spell! Right?

Well, if I’m wrong, then you can always use this.

Kinetic Invocation (Mythic)

Prerequisite: Kinetic Invocation

Benefit: You gain the mythic version of one spell selected as a wild talent with Kinetic Invocation. In addition, the selected spell counts as psychic magic for all prerequisites. If the selected spell serves as a prerequisite for a prestige class that usually increases spellcasting abilities at some levels, that class instead increases your effective kineticist level for purposes of determining the highest level of wild talents you can select, the effective spell level of your kinetic blast and defense wild talents, and the amount of burn you can accept each round. You continue to gain utility wild talents and infusions as if levels in the prestige class were levels of your class that grants kinetic blast. You don’t gain or increase other related class features, such as infusion specializations.

Special: This mythic feat can be selected more than once, every time granting access to the mythic version of a different selected spell.
