New Archetype: Kinetic Disciple (Mentalist)

Did I say that Rogue Genius Games is one of my favored companies? Many of their books are canon in my campaign and I like to quote their material and play with it. This archetype is for the Mentalist class found in Ultimate Occult.


Kinetic Disciple (Mentalist Archetype)

For some mentalists, spells and ploys aren’t enough. They extend their explorations into other planes, learning to manipulate the raw energy of creation.

Elemental Sphere (Su): At 1st level, a kinetic disciple chooses one kineticist element. She gains that element’s basic utility wild talent. The kinetic disciple switches Intelligence for Constitution for the purpose of determining her element powers’ effects. In exchange, a kinetic disciple gains only one psychic sphere at 1st level, though she continues to gain additional spheres at higher levels. In effect, she reduces the total number of spheres she can choose by 1. This ability alters spheres.

Burn (Ex): At 1st level, the kinetic disciple gains the kineticist’s burn ability. She can spend points from her mental magic pool in place of accepting burn points (spending 2 PE for each burn point she would take). This replaces the first level’s mentalist ploy.

Mental Combat (Su): At 2nd level, the kinetic disciple gains one simple kinetic blast matching her element. At 3rd level, she gains her element’s defense wild talent. This replaces sphere channeling 1 and the third level’s mentalist ploy.

Wild Talent Ploy: From 5th level on, every time that a kinetic disciple could select a mentalist ploy, she can instead gain an infusion or utility wild talent based on her chosen element. Her kineticist level is considered to be equal to her mentalist level for the purpose of gaining and using these talents. This ability alters mentalist ploys. The kinetic disciple is eligible for the Extra Wild Talent feat.

Metakinesis Expert (Su): At 6th level, a kinetic disciple can apply one metamagic feat she knows to her kinetic blast, as if using metakinesis. At 14th level, she can choose another metamagic feat to apply to his blast. This replaces unlock magic device and greater unlock magic device. The kinetic disciple is eligible for the Expanded Metakinesis feat.

Omnikinesis (Su): At 20th level, the kinetic disciple gains the omnikinesis kineticist ability with her chosen element. This replaces supreme mentalism.
