Quasimodo, Level 20

 Since I forgot yesterday’s post, there are two posts today.

Here’s Quasimodo at the end of The Broken Brides of Europe, when he’s become a superhero in his own right, has defeated a preternatural beast and found what he always needed to be happy. And don’t forget… when he rages, his attack bonus with unarmed strikes is +41/+41/+36/+31/+26 and his damage is 1d6+28, +1d8 sonic on critical hits! Pretty similar to Ophelia’s damage… it was important for us.

Froglok (Civilized Grippli)

Frogloks are more honorable and civilized than other gripplis, and they usually have brightly colored skin in tones of pink and blue. They have the following racial traits.

Ability Score Modifiers: Mixed Weakness (-2 RP)  +2 Dexterity, +2 Wisdom, –2 Strength, –2 Charisma.

Base Speed: Frogloks have a base speed of 30 feet and a swim speed of 20 feet. They do not have a climb speed.

Jumper (2 RP): Frogloks are always considered to have a running start when making Acrobatics checks to jump.

Quasimodo, Level 12

 At the beginning of The Broken Brides of Europe, Quasimodo is a very different man from the beginning of his new adventures. He is sent to recover someone with a broken soul and body similar to his own, and finds that maybe there is a person able to understand him, cheer him up and open again his mistreated heart… and beat him in an arm wrestling game.

By the way, this sheet shows Quasimodo’s attack and damage when he is not in a rage. When raging, also thanks to his rage powers, he can attack at +22/+22/+17/+12 and do 1d6+14 damage, +1d8 sonic on a critical hit.

Barbarians (“Wild Humans”)

Barbarians are tribal humans who prize strength and honor above intelligence and knowledge. They have the following racial traits.

Ability Score Modifiers: Paragon (1 RP): +4 Strength, –2 Intelligence, –2 Wisdom, –2 Charisma. Barbarians are physically the toughest of human subraces, but tend to be gruff and are not terribly interested in more intellectual pursuits.

Heavy Frame (1 RP): Barbarians count as Large creatures for combat maneuvers, spell effects, and feat prerequisites.

Energy Resistance (1 RP): Barbarians have cold resistance 5.

Skill Training (1 RP): Perception and Survival are always class skills for barbarians.

Barbarians don’t receive the skilled human racial trait.

New Blood Rage Powers: Maestro

Quasimodo needed bardic abilities.
Quasimodo is a barbarian.
Barbarians can have “blood rage powers” derived from diluted bloodrager bloodlines.
Bloodrager bloodlines can be often derived from sorcerer bloodlines.
There is a sorcerer bloodline with bardic abilities: Maestro.
I created a bloodrager version of the Maestro bloodline a while ago (you can find an updated version in my book Expanded Bloodragers for Pathfinder Infinite).
Maybe a bloodrager would have more appropriately SKALDIC powers?!
Sooooo… here we are…

New Blood Rage Powers

Maestro Blood, Lesser (Su): While raging, as a swift action up to three times a day, the barbarian can infuse her attacks with sonic power for 1 round. During this time, all of her melee attacks gain the thundering weapon special ability.

Maestro Blood (Ex): The barbarian can use the Perform skill while raging (if she already can use it, she gains instead Perform as a skill class). In addition, the barbarian gains resistance 5 to sonic damage and a +2 bonus on saves vs. language-dependent spells and effects when in a rage.

Maestro Blood, Greater (Ex): While raging, the barbarian can use the song of strength raging song as a skald of her barbarian level for 1 round/level per day. These rounds need not be consecutive. This ability counts as raging song for all prerequisites.

New Feat: Indefatigable Drummer

 Quasimodo is a bell-ringer, and an artist at that. He deserves the title of bard. But he has by necessity a low Charisma.

But- do you need a pretty face to play percussions?! Not necessarily. What you need are muscles. So here. Dwarvish drummers of the future will thank me.

Indefatigable Drummer

A smile is not needed to keep the rhythm- stamina is.

Benefit: Add your Constitution modifier to Perform (percussion) skill checks instead of your Charisma modifier.

Quasimodo, Level 1

 The Hunchback of Notre-Dame begins his new adventure in Aaron Hollingsworth’s The Broken Bards of Paris as a deeply wounded man. In addition to his physical disability and his deafness induced by the thundering sound of bells, he just lost his beloved Esmeralda and can’t seem to find any other reason to live. His new friends will show him the kindness and brotherhood he always desired (maybe not from the first moment, but…), and his other ailments could be cured with time.

It’s been a little hard to decide which class to use for this build. Quasimodo is a Bard as his companions, but doesn’t use spells, and his Charisma is impaired. Plus, he must be able to climb the church’s walls at amazing speed, know his way within walls and alleys to hide from the enemies, and use the surrounding environment to his advantage. And he can be enraged when the things and people he loves are endangered!

So I tried to do him justice this way. Hope you like it! I didn’t take his deafness into account since… well, you will have to read the book for this.

Mythic Feat: Soulwrecking Strike

Mythic Soulwrecking Strike

You cause unbearable pain to a possessing entity, forcing it to leave its host.

Prerequisite: Soulwrecking Strike.

Benefit: You can choose to inflict non-lethal damage to the possessed creature and lethal damage to the possessing entity. If you confirm a critical hit against the host, the possessing entity is forced to leave, as per banishment.

 Ophelia sees her madness as a gift in The Broken Brides of Europe. It allows her to retain a jolly nature and optimism, and a huge dose of nonconformism, which is a blessing for a valkyrie of a woman endued with super-strength and superpowers. Maybe in the end this mighty belle has also found the one who can ring her the right way (ahem!) and give her a much-deserved happiness.
