Cogs (Monstrous Race, 20 RP)
Cogs are sentient golems/robots created by mortal scientific geniuses, but have a will of their own. The typical cog is made of metal, but there are subraces of cogs made from other materials (and with different names).
Type: Construct (cog) (20 RP)
Size: Medium (0 RP)
Speed: Slow (-1 RP) 20 ft.
Ability Score Modifiers: Greater Paragon (+2 RP) +4 Str, -2 Dex, -2 Cha.
Languages: Linguist (1 RP) Cogs begin game speaking Common. They can learn any languages they want as bonus languages if they have a high Intelligence score (except Druidic and other secret languages)
Defense Racial Traits
Bonus Hit Points: As constructs, cogs gain 20 bonus hit points at 1st level.
Construct Immunities: Constructs are immune to all mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, morale effects, patterns, and phantasms). They are not subject to ability damage, ability drain, fatigue, exhaustion, energy drain, or nonlethal damage. Constructs are immune to any effect that requires a Fortitude save (unless the effect also works on objects or is harmless). They do not risk death due to massive damage, but are immediately destroyed when reduced to 0 hit points or fewer.
Sense Racial Traits
Construct Senses: Constructs have low-light vision and darkvision 60 feet.
Weakness Racial Traits
Battery Damage (-2 RP): The internal power of a cog runs down and must be renewed. Each day, the cog suffers 2 points of battery damage per character level. Battery damage has the same effects as nonlethal damage for constructs. A cog can get rid of 5 points of battery damage by spending one full round rewinding himself. Electrical damage injures the cog normally but also heals battery damage at a rate of two points of electrical damage healing one point of battery damage.
No Soul: Constructs cannot heal damage on their own, but can often be repaired via exposure to a certain kind of effect (depending on the construct’s racial abilities) or through the use of the Craft Construct feat. Constructs can also be healed through spells such as make whole. A construct with the fast healing special quality still benefits from that quality. Constructs cannot be raised or resurrected.
Other Traits
No Constitution: Constructs have no Constitution score. Any DCs or other statistics that rely on a Constitution score treat a construct as having a score of 10 (no bonus or penalty).
Self-Fueled: Constructs do not breathe, eat, or sleep, unless they want to gain some beneficial effect from one of these activities. This means that a construct can drink potions to benefit from their effects and can sleep in order to regain spells, but neither of these activities is required to survive or stay in good health.
